Ancillary reviews are additional reviews that may be required in conjunction with IRB review and approval. Please review the list of ancillary reviews below to see which may be required for your study.
General Ancillary Reviews
Conflict of Interest Review
Conflict of Interest (COI) review is required for all study team members who are engaged in research. More information regarding COI review can be found on the Financial Conflicts of Interest page.
Protection of Minors Review
Protection of Minors (PoM) review is required for all study team members when the research involves participants under the age of 18. More information regarding PoM review can be found on the Protection of Minors Policy page.
University Information Security Office Review
University Information Security Office UISO review may be required for studies who would like to utilize applications and platforms not already approved for us by GU. More information regarding UISO review can be found on the Technology Policies page.
Data Use Agreements
Data Use Agreements (DUA) may be needed for some research studies where data and information are shared or received with outside sources. More information regarding DUA requirements can be found on the Request Data for Research page.
Scientific Ancillary Reviews
Scientific Progress Review Committee (SPRC)
SPRC review is required for all studies reviewed by the MedStar Health Research Institute-Georgetown University Oncology Institutional Review Board (MHRI-GU Oncology – Committee D). More information regarding SPRC review can be found on the Scientific Review Committee page.
Scientific Evaluation and Prioritization Committee (SEPCOM)
SEPCOM review is required for some of the studies reviewed by the Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science (GHUCCTS) Institutional Review Board (GHUCCTS – Committee D). More information regarding SEPCOM review can be found on the following pages:
Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)
IBC review is required for research involving the use of infectious microorganisms, recombinant DNA, and biological toxins. More information regarding IBC review can be found on the Institutional Biosafety Committee page.
