Human Subject Protections
The Office of Human Subject Protections is home to the University’s Institutional Review Boards, serving Georgetown faculty and students, and working in close collaboration with MedStar investigators. The OHSP also houses the Office of Research Quality Assurance, helping faculty identify, anticipate, and keep ahead of any compliance issues that might otherwise impede their research.
OHSP Vision:
To uphold the highest ethical, quality, and regulatory standards for the rights, welfare and safety of human research subjects at Georgetown University.
OHSP Purpose:
- OHSP provides leadership and oversight for all matters related to the protection of human subjects participating in research at Georgetown University.
- Support the ethical review of human subject research for Georgetown University and collaborators at MedStar Health.
- Help faculty identify, anticipate, and keep ahead of any quality or compliance issues that might otherwise impede their research.
